Meet the Makers: Paunchy Elephant

At Evergreen Custom Gifting we focus on curated, elevated, and locally-inspired keepsakes that create a meaningful connection to our destination. Partnering with fellow creative small business owners whenever possible. In our “Meet the Makers” series we feature the local artisans and makers that provide products for our gifts.

Today we highlight Paunchy Elephant, a local, family-owned and operated organic food company located in Marysville, WA. Hand crafting bottled, organic teas, fruit-infused lemonades, and a sticky, lip-smacking barbecue sauce are just a few specialties! Paunchy Elephant uses eco-conscious packaging and is a social purpose corporation donating a minimum of 10% of net profits to charitable causes each year. Join them on their journey to encourage others to relax, indulge, and consume sustainably!

Our Favorite Product

The Organic Lemon Lemonade is a favorite at Evergreen Custom Gifting! As they say, we make lemonade, not lemon juice...not lemon water. Their hand-crafted lemonades come in a variety of flavors. All are made in small batches, with certified organic, fair-trade cane sugar as the sweetener. A perfect bottle of Summertime, this classic lemonade has only four simple ingredients. No additives. No preservatives. No artificial flavors or colors. Pure, high-quality ingredient, organic goodness. Relax. Indulge. Consume sustainably.

Meet Tamyra

A Seattle resident for 30+ years, Tamyra has long enjoyed the short but incredibly beautiful Summers in the Pacific Northwest. She started Paunchy Elephant with the help of her mom, who also loves Summertime and all things barbecue. Her mom’s 30+ year old family favorite barbecue sauce recipe has long been a favorite gift of friends and family. She mentioned one day wanting to sell it in stores and from there, the brand was created. Since then they’ve added personal favorites since drink-mixing and flavor combinations are a hobby of Tamyra’s. As a family they continue to operate the business and have worked to incorporate other things that they're passionate about beyond food like social, mental, physical, and environmental health. Their hope is that when people see and purchase Paunchy Elephant products they know that they are supporting not just a family business but farmers and other meaningful, impactful social initiatives.

What is your favorite part of doing what you do?

What we enjoy the most is seeing the look on people's faces when they try one of our products for the first time and are pleased with the flavor and taste. We love attending farmer's markets for this same reason and really like interacting with people. We also love hearing stories of how and where people use our products.

What new products are you most excited about?

Right now we have three lines of products: bottled teas, fruit-infused lemonades, and barbecue sauce. In the Fall we are excited about the launch of our low-glycemic, monkfruit-sweetened line which will feature customer favorites from all three lines.
